Not true, and I will explain why.

Every phone comes with a converter (the black box that you actually connect to the power lines). The converters converts 130/240v (approx) into some 9v which is usually the maximum voltage the phone battery needs to charge. Early models would use 15v.

We have all had experiences getting electrocuted with 110 or 220 outlets and, while painful, there are not deadly. Even considering that:

a) Your phone is connected to a socket without a ground cable.

b) Your phone is completely open, and thus exposing metalic parts that could pass on electricity.

The "electrocution" you would get would be the same as holding in your hand 4 batteries of the same type you use in your remote control.

I don't mean to discredit the writer, but I don't like false rumors to make people afraid.

PS: The only way you could possibly get any serious injury would be touching the metallic parts of the converter while connected, which is technically impossible as they are inside the sockets (the holes) of the wall socket, and even so you would have to touch both metallic pins at same time.

I tried taking a photo course last fall, but the building made me sick. It's hard to explain, but Im sensitive to alot of petroleum products, and when im in big, buildings, with rooms with no windows, just long winding ventilation systems, I get sick and end up having to quit. Ive tried school about 3 times. Lots of jobs. All made me sick. So I need open windows. But ive done some photo classes when I was young at the Dawson College till I got sick, and I self teach myself now.
